Psychologist

Assistant Professor
of Psychology

How can I tell if I could benefit from therapy?

If you’ve encountered a difficult life event, relationship problem, or noticed you aren’t succeeding or thriving personally or professionally, psychotherapy may be helpful to you.

Welcome.  I am Stephanie Swales, a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Dallas where I teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels. I am trained to listen and intervene in a way that can have many benefits, including relief from suffering and substantive, lasting changes such as personal growth, increased relationship satisfaction and life fulfillment, and an improved ability to work and succeed.

Words have the power both to hurt and to heal. Psychotherapy works best when you feel free to express and explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences — including the ones that might feel difficult to put into words.

I provide individual and couples' psychotherapy for adults and psychotherapy for children (ages 12 and older) who are struggling with:

Depression
Anxiety
Trauma and PTSD
Relationship Problems
Eating Disorders and Body Image Issues
Bereavement Difficulties
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Child Behavior Problems
Parenting Stress
Bi-polar Disorders
Personality Disorders
Psychosis
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Alcohol Abuse
Drug Abuse
Self Esteem Issues
Self-Harm Behaviors
Sexual Abuse
Suicidal Ideation
Women's Issues
Men's Issues
Spiritual or Religious Issues
Work/Career Concerns
Transgender Issues
LGBTQ Concerns
Personal Growth
